This tells the story of a broadcaster who decided to public attention and then became subject to a conspiracy attack by personalities who wanted to keep the incident a secret. It became imperative for the broadcaster to report the issue as the consequences of the meltdown polluting the public water supply or even the environment could be deadly. The movie reflects the power of the media in influencing the awareness of people over issues happening around them. In a way, journalism is a pro-social profession based on its contributions to society. The world could be significantly better if journalism is practiced ethically and issues are reported to the public.
4. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Just as the name implies, this movie is about a prominent anchor named Ron Burgundy who worked as an anchorman for a San Diego based TV station where he enjoyed success in a male-driven industry but then faces a challenge when Veronica Corningstone, a female reporter whom he enjoyed a fling filled in for him on a show and received high ratings. Eventually, Veronica was promoted as co-anchor for the show and the relationship between the two became testy although they managed to maintain cordiality while on air.
5. Good Morning, Vietnam
This is a war/comedy movie that is centered on the experiences of Adrian, a DJ who traveled to Vietnam to work for the Armed Forces Radio Service. His humorous approach fetched his popularity amongst the troops but this was not pleasing to his superiors. This movie further shows that even in the broadcasting profession, freedom of expression may be a luxury as broadcasters may be forced to tone down their opinions under certain circumstances.
